"When A Loved One Dies-Walking Through Grief as
a Teenager" This video helps teens understand the grief process
through the testimonies of young people who have walked through it, and
gives hope that you can heal and grow through this life-changing

Military Funeral Honors with Authorized
Providers: This video presents guidance on how to perform
Military Funeral Honors with the participation of Authorized Providers who
may provide additional elements to the basic ceremony. The men and
women now serving in the Armed Forces stand proudly with those who have
served to pay a final tribute to our Nation's veterans.
"Military Funeral Honors: Two-Person
Detail" This video presents guidance on how to conduct a
two-person detail - from receiving the request for honors to completion
and documentation of the honors provided.

Goodbye" This video is produced by the Centering

"When Kids Say Goodbye" This video was
written and produced by Dr. Peter Alsop and funeral director Paul Janisse
to help kids, along with their caregivers, when they experience loss. It
provides a basic program that funeral directors can use to help children
with a loss. (30 minutes)
"Expressions of Teen Grief" This video
has value for both funeral directors as well as high school counselors.
Helps explain the value of the funeral for high school students. (15
minutes)
"Making a Difference: A Career in Funeral
Service" The Career Day Kit offers you a complete starter program
for presenting a career in funeral service.
"In Celebration of Life" The death of
someone we love is difficult to accept. That person was part of who we are
and without them we often feel we can’t go on. This video celebrates the
funeral and the importance of the funeral ritual. Ideal for programs in
the community, schools and senior citizens centers. (9 minutes)
"The Importance of Bereavement in Hospice
Care" As both caregivers and caretakers for the living, hospice
workers and funeral directors share many common interests. This
presentation explores the hospice care concept and the role funeral
directors play in providing comprehensive care and support to terminally
ill patients and their families. (10 minutes)
"DEATH: The Trip of A Lifetime" This PBS
series was produced, written and presented by Greg Palmer. It was first
broadcast in 1993 and was the highest rated PBS documentary special series
of the 1993/1994 season. The series follows a man’s quest to discover
how people around the world cope with the incontrovertible fact of death.
The result is a wise, witty, decidedly quirky celebration of how we all
face life.
"Loaded Weapon: A Story About Drinking and
Driving" Based on a true story of 17 year-old Alexandra Vincent. Loaded
Weapon examines the series of events that ended her life and sent
another teenager to jail. At the end of the program, Alexandra’s mother
appears on camera to underscore the tragic reality of watching a drunk
driver kill her only child. She explains that though most people think it
can’t happen to them, it can. (22 minutes)
"The Courage to Grieve, The Courage to Grow"
This full color video narrated by renowned psychotherapist Judy Tatelbaum,
will teach you to recognize the stages of grief, to develop tools for
healing, to feel complete with grief and, in a powerful demonstration, to
say good-bye and begin living wholeheartedly and with commitment. (45
minutes)
"The Facts of Death" This video is an
entertaining informative, behind-the-scenes glimpse at the funeral. A
complete look at what happens when you die. Not to your soul, to your
body! You’ll spend five days with a husband and wife funeral director
team as they plan a funeral and then remove, embalm, dress, make-up,
casket and bury the remains. This video also explores the history of
American funeral practices, examines the role of the funeral in modern
society, the business of funerals, the development of cemeteries, and the
growing trend toward cremation in the U.S. (60 minutes)
What About Me?" Kids and Grief In this
multicultural video, 11 children, ages 4 through 14, discuss their
experiences of grief due to the death or chronic illness of a sibling or
parent. Boys and girls of diverse ethnic background talk about their own
life experiences to offer other children hope, support and a sense of
community as they explore feelings of loss and grief in their own lives.
Though intended for children and adolescents, the video offers insight to
parents and professionals of many disciplines who want to be more
successful in working with grief issues. (18 minutes)
"Healing Your Grief Wound" This newly
revised two tape set is aimed at helping people deal with the emotions and
feelings associated with a recent loss and people who have been struggling
for months with their grief. Good resource for support group programs in
the funeral home or community. (Each tape 30 minutes)
"What Do I Tell My Children: How To Help A Child
Cope With The Death Of A Loved One" Narrated by actress Joanne
Woodward, this informative video interviews bereaved parents who are
coping with a death, children who experienced a death, families sharing
real feelings and leading professionals in the field, including Earl A.
Grollman, D.D. and Elizabeth Kubler-Ross, M.D. who offer advice for
coping. Video is live action. (30 minutes)
"Invincible Summer: Returning to Life After
Someone You Love Has Died" This program is filled with comforting
wisdom, accented by inspiring photography, designed to usher mourners
through the seasons of their grief. The artistic creation of sensitive
words, beautiful music and masterful photography from nature will offer
encouragement day after day, month after month. (16 minutes)
"And We Were Sad, Remember" Produced by
HEW, this film illustrates an excellent contrast between two small first
cousins whose grandparent dies. One is encouraged to discuss the situation
and to go to the funeral if they wish ... the other -- who becomes
confused, is told nothing, nor is encouraged to attend the funeral. The
results are expected, but still excellent for young parental groups.
"Children And Death" An interview with
Dr. Grollman regarding the impact death has on a child and suggested
methods of telling them that someone has died. In the film, Dr. Grollman
demonstrates a possible method with a young girl. (22 minutes)
"A Natural Part of Life" A young husband and father dies
suddenly. These two videos journey through the help received by the widow
and children by the funeral director and their friends. It discusses
preneed, arrangements, casket selections, and the value of the complete
funeral. Good for civic clubs, church groups, other adult groups, and high
school students.
