The Kansas State Board of Mortuary Arts (KSBMA) is accepting applications for the fulltime unclassified position of Funeral Home-Crematory Investigator-Inspector. Salary will be determined based on experience with a tentative starting date in December of 2021 (the exact start date to be determined).
Five (5) years of experience as a Kansas licensed embalmer, funeral director and crematory operator and be currently licensed as such.
Computer skills and experience using the following software: Word/Word Perfect, Excel, Access, and Adobe Acrobat Reader with the ability to learn the different software programs specific to the State of Kansas where training will be provided.
A valid driver’s license is required.
Must be patient and willing to learn and work with a small administrative staff daily, and to listen/communicate well with staff, board members, licensees and the public.
To inspect funeral establishments, branch funeral establishments and crematories; to reinspect any facilities as directed by the Executive Secretary in addition to inspecting new facilities, facilities with structural alterations, facilities with changes in ownership and facilities that have had a complaint filed against them to ensure protection of the health, safety and welfare of the people of Kansas.
To prepare, compile, complete and submit computerized/written reports with the Executive Secretary.
To provide information to licensees, students, apprentices, consumers, and any other parties deemed necessary by the Executive Secretary regarding laws, governed by the Kansas State Board of Mortuary Arts.
To perform duties in the Topeka office as assigned by the Executive Secretary and to assist with the Office Manager and Executive Secretary.
