The 2016 Kansas Legislature passed House Bill No. 2518, which requires that all death certificates, stillbirth certificates or medical certifications be filed electronically using the Kansas electronic death registration system. The bill applies to funeral directors, physicians and coroners. The bill was signed into law it will become effective on January 1, 2017. This will give the Office of Vital Statistics time to train the doctors and coroners who are not currently using the EDRS.
If you have not done so, make sure the staff of your funeral home receives training by the end of the year and are ready to file electronically.
