FEMA IS-700 Course

This course introduces and overviews the National Incident Management System (NIMS). NIMS provides a consistent nationwide template to enable all government, private-sector, and nongovernmental organizations to work together during domestic incidents. It is important that funeral directors and embalmers complete the course to be able to respond to disasters. After the course, to obtain a certificate of completion, attendees will need to go on-line and pass examination.

Course Objectives:

Attendees will become knowledgable of the key concepts and principles underlying NIMS. They will be able to describe the purpose of the NIMS Components including: Preparedness, Communications and Information Management, Resource Management, and Command and Management.

Who must Complete Course:

All personnel with a direct role in emergency preparedness, incident management or response must complete NIMS IS-700. Emergency response providers and disaster workers must complete the course to be eligible to respond. This includes funeral directors and embalmers.
